Ancient China
Religion: On page 12 it said the constant turmoil in Ancient China led a man name Confucius to develop a new outlook based on kindness and respect. He sums up his beliefs in one sentence "Let the prince be a prince the minister be a minister the father a father, and the son a son."This philosophy became a popular religion called Confucianism. Technology: On page 22 it says Emperors encouraged development of science and technology. The author wrote other Chinese inventions that made the world a different place were paper money, clockwork, silk, porcelain, fireworks, kites, umbrellas, and the wheelbarrow. This shows China was ahead in technology and their inventions revolutionized modern tech. (Cotterell)
Government: On page 13 it says that the Chinese empire was formed. The first emperor was Qin Shi Huangdi he called it the Zheng Dynasty. The dynasty's name translates to "warring state."(Cotterell)
Writing:On page 11 it said An ox bone or tortoise shell was scorched over fire until it cracked. The Shang Kings used the oracle bones to get advise from their ancestral spirits. The answer to the questions were shown on the bones with the various cracks. (Cotterel)
Location:On page 40 it said China's towns and cities were built traditionally that divided into sections called wards. "Wealthy people lived typically lived on one end of the down and peasant lived on the other. Lastly towns were surrounded by walls and the walls closed at night. (Cotterell)
Art: On page 56 it says China had always been renowned for its exquisite arts and crafts. Luxury goods formed a major export in China. "Although the manufacture of decorated objects involved sophisticated techniques, many were mass produced." (Cotterell)
Trade/Commerce: On page 58, it said China permitted merchants to trade freely throughout their empire. This was called the silk road, the silk road was a bunch of trade routes.These merchants would trade luxury items such as silk, spices, and teas. (Cotterell)
