  - - - 'I heard the breathe and I knew I had a moment to kill the past, to fight it and wipe it away,' (p150). Here the author uses Maurice's urge to get rid of the past, which is the form of the creature of the sink, to unveil his values, attitudes and beliefs.
        Values- he values his control over the sink even though he basically created a phycological prison for himself. He also values his life he has built for himself.
        Attidues- his stuborness and constant confessions cause him to be delusional to the fact that he is not in control of the sink and the land (as well as the creature) wants to rid of him.
        Beliefs- he has this god complex
  - - - This quote provides an eerie and supernatural view of the land and night itself, that the Sink haunts Maurice's dreams with the stories of the dead, unsettling and uncanny. It reflects Maurice's belief that he is haunted by the stories of others, that he has to be the teller to the night to try and find solace.
    - - Intertextual with the bible. Maurice's dreams are supernatural like the demonic possession of the cave man dude.
  - - - '"Anyone for a drink?"' (p.65) Ronnie is known to be pregnant by all of the people in the room.
    - - 'We buried Ida and the child in the forest. It was hard work but we dragged and dug without fuss.' (p 154) Maurice has just shot his wife, supposedly believing her to be the creature, and yet he as no struggle to cover his deed and hide what he has done. This shows Maurice's transgressive nature where a 'normal' person would have sobbed and possibly even called the authorities immediately, Maurice has a selfish aim to hide what he has done. 'Up in the mud and the furrows of light, my Ida drowned. She felt the heat and the wind in her throat. Blood was her only voice. For perhaps a second she had hold of a thought, a memory.' -p 151

        Reflecting the galvanism of the 18th-19th centuries in the Enlightenment Period, his actions don't conflict with a large number of people in societ, particularly the natural philosophers and others scientifically minded people.
        
        Shelley's purpose in writing the text isn't to make and show that galvanism is a transgressionand the inhumanity of it, and in that showing that there is a limit of scientific and technological advancements

        Frankenstein is showing he subconsciously wishes to be God. He values the power - "Separated from all other apartments by a gallery and a staircase" alludes to the idea (symbolic) of his workshop being higher. Frankenstein thinks he is working in heaven which further develops the supernatural themes that are presented from the idea of creating life from nothing.
      - 'I collected the instruments of life around me, that I might infuse a spark of being into the lifeless thing that lay at my feet.' (pg 38)
        
        This quote invokes the debate that the very idea and inspiration behind the creation of Frankenstein is arguably supernatural; this idea that, with the rapid development of science and experimentation in electricity, man can essentially 'play God' and give life to something lifeless
