Contentious issues
Natural Law implies that the purpose of intercourse is reproduction. This would appear to be against contraception, masturbation and homosexual activity.

The doctrine of double effect - Aquinas says bad consequences are ok if they are the result of a good action.

Real and apparent goods

Apparent goods occur when a person tries to do good but applies the wrong reasoning and therefore makes an incorrect action.
Even when someone recognises an apparent good, one can be tempted by it and pursue it.

Other thinkers like Aristotle, John Locke and William Paley believed that reason and observation could unlock the natural rules of the universe.
Aristotle believed that living in accordance with nature would lead humans to a state of eudemonia. Eudemonia can be defined as human flourishing.
Aquinas thought we achieved this state once reunited with God.
