REFLECTION
How did Jesus fit into this Climate?
It was difficult for Jesus to fit into this climate. When he grew up, his life was normal working as a carpenter and everything changed when he became spreading his word throughout Israel. While many people did listen to his word and accept him, there were still others in power who wouldn't. The higher class Jews would not accept him and the Romans let him be until the Jews wanted his execution.
THE CENTRALITY OF THE JERUSALEM TEMPLE IN JEWISH LIFE
The place for sacrifices
Sadducees focused on the Temple and sacrifices
Destruction of Jerusalem and the Temple changed Jewish life. Sadducees ceased to exist and Pharisees evolved the practices of the faith by focusing on the Torah. This became known as the Rabbinic Judaism of today.
