Memory - Coggle Diagram

- - - - RAM also called main memory
      - Can be read from and written to by processor
      - Holds data or programs that are currently being used processor
      - Assembled on a small circuit board called memory being used by the processor
      - Most RAM is volatile, which means it loses its contents when the power is turn off
      - Types :
        
        Static RAM (SRAM)
        
        Dynamic RAM (DRAM)
        
        Magnetoresistive RAM (MRAM)
  - - - Read-only memory (ROM)
        
        ROM is a memory chip that stores permanent data or instructions
        
        Data on most ROM chips cannot be modified
        
        Contain a small startup program (BIOS) which is to boot the computer
        
        Exists as a chip on the motherboard
        
        ROM is non-volatile, which means its contents are not lost when the power is turn off

        Programmable ROM (PROM)
        
        Erasable programmable ROM (EPROM)
        
        Electrically Erasable Programmable ROM (EEPROM)
