EU Green Deal: Once in a lifetime opportunity for WWF to position itself:
· 70 billion € are foreseen for the next 7-year period for funding outside of the EU (North Africa, the Middle East, the European Neighbourhood, Sub-Saharan Africa, Asia, the Pacific and Latin America).
· 75% of that funding will be decided by EU Delegations in the given countries by developing a 7 year programme with 3 priority thematic areas.
· EU Delegations are expected to hold consultations with local partners such as civil society organisations, private sector, multilateral organisations
· The window is closing to influence your in country EU delegations
What can you do?
· Reach out to your EU delegations
· Get organized - Reach out to other CSOs, members of the private sector, representatives of local/community/indigenous groups to ensure strong representation, consistent messaging and joint positioning.
· Share the WWF European Green Deal NDICI paper with the EU Delegations.
· Be prepared with clear & concrete messages for future priorities
· Reach out to embassies of key EU member states or their development cooperation agencies (DANIDA, SIDA, AFD, etc.)
