Classroom instruction
Tier 2: Mrs. Han will utilize different ways for class participation that are scaffolded from low stakes to high stakes. For example, if the topic is pets, Mrs. Han may post pictures of different pets around the classroom and instruct the students to place a sticker on the photo of their favorite pet (low stakes). Next, pairs of students who have the same favorite pet discuss and write down reasons for their choice, tape it next to the photo of their favorite pet, and read other responses (medium stakes). Then, in groups of four, students could discuss their favorite pet and why they like it (high stakes). Mrs. Han will plan at least 1 scaffold activity a week beginning next week.
Tier 3: Beginning immediately, Mrs. Han will communicate topics and activities to Seena the day prior to class so Seena can brainstorm and practice with her parents what she will share in class. Anna and Joe will practice with Seena what she will share in class for the next day.
Expected outcome: Seena is expected to increase her class participation.
