Oral Stage
Focus of Peasure: Mouth
Ages: Newborn - 1 years of age
Conflict: Could form oral fixation later in life, including but not limited to nail biting, thumb sucking, or chain smoker
Genital Stage
Ages: Adolescence - Adulthood
Focus of pleasure: Sexual Reawakening
Conflict: Mature sexual relationships, and the goal of reproduction
Latency Stage
Age: 5 - Adolescence
Conflict: The libido is latent during this stage; allows them to develop social skills and form friendships of mostly the same gender
Focus of Pleasure: Repress sexual urges
Phallic Stage
Age: 3 - 5 years of age
Focus of pleasure: Genitals
Conflict: Erotic Attraction
Electra Complex
For young girls
When young girls become sexually attracted to their fathers and become hostile towards their mothers.
Oedipus Complex
For boys
When young boys become sexually attracted to their mother and become more hostile towards their father.
Anal Stage
Age: 1 1/2 - 3 years of age
Focus of pleasure: Anal
Conflict: This stage can determine their respect of authorities due to potty training or parental impatience
