They are expert farmers who focus on mountain rice, corn, and soybeans, planted in seasonal shifts. The Akha are also very efficient hunters, though their prey sometimes includes endangered species. Some Akha grew opium for income in the past. 
The Akha way centred around planting, growing and harvesting rice. They have maintained the ancient traditions of their ancestors and are remarkably talented craftsmen who make their tools and homes out of bamboo.
Children also learn the skills which are characteristic of the Akha, It is certain that the lessons being woven learned by Akha children today will preserve for future generations.

Character traits
Their clothing is mainly characterized by the use of black as a base, with variations within the different branches of the Lahu culture, which adorn the clothes with different colors and embroidery.
