Ancient Civilization
Mesopotamia
Location: On page 6, it said that Tigris and Euphrates Rivers flow through the Middle East. Originally the people that lived there didn't have a name for it but the Greeks called it Mesopotamia.(Steele)
Architecture: In the text it said "The word ziqqurat is Assyrian and means height or pinnacle". An example is "The ziggurats themselves had small temples or shrines on top, reached by long stairways". (Steele 24)
Writing: On page 12 it says " The Mesopotamians mastered many technologies and crafts at an early point in their history. Sometime in late BCE the invention the pottery wheel making inventions much easier". ( Steele 12)
Religion: In the text it said,"They believed that the stars traveling across the night sky were cows of Sin or Nanna, the horned Moon god". An example is "Enlil was the father of the other gods".

Ancient China
Writing The author wrote that a tortoiseshell was burned and cracked to answer important questions from the people to their ancestors.They believed that the answers were written on the bones after the fire.During this time the Shang kings used the different bones to talk to their ancestors. (Cotterell 11)
Religion:
Religion: An example is that on page 26 it says that the beliefs were split into three differences. These beliefs were Confucianism,Daoism and Buddhism. Confucius was one of the best rulers who believed that everything would either happen for a reason and that you need to treat people the way you wanted to be treated.(Cottell 26)
Location On page 42 the author says " In most Chinese homes, three generations of the same family lived under one roof". Families followed very strict codes witch reflected the way their house was shaped. Usually the grandfather, lived with his wife and children at the main building, with side rooms with other close relatives. (Cotterell 42)
Art: In 481 B.C. China had separated into seven different states. During this time battles were becoming larger in scale and thousands of men were being killed. The military began to disapprove in status and civil service grew itselfs more importance. ( Cotterell 32)
Trade/commerce On page 22 the author says " Some of the worlds greatest inventions came from Some of the worlds great inventions came from China". Some inventions that were from China are paper money, clockwork, silk, porcelain, fireworks, kites, umbrellas and wheelbarrow's. In China the artist produced large quantities of fine silk and cloth in myriad. ( Cotterell 22 )
Architecture/ Technology : In the text it said that paper and printing were the most important Chinese inventions. The paper was made in about 105 A.D. and it was originally made from silk rags, Bamboo, hemp and mulberry leaves.Printing was also very important and it started around with the first wood block and then they started to use stone horn,bronze or even ceramics.(Cotterell 24)
Government: In the text it says " Qin soldiers defeated the last of their last enemies and united the " warring states" under one leader,Zheng". This empire took their first Emperor (221-207 B.C.). The empire used his subjects as slave laborers to build the Great Wall of China and suppressed anyone who disagreed with him. (Cotterell 16)
Indus Valley
Location : In the source it says, " The Indus River Valley covers most modern-day Pakistan, The Northwest religion of modern- day India, and a small portion of Afghanistan". Around 5,00 years ago a civilization developed along the Indus river plains.
