Diversity in Law
excluding deaf people from law making decisions and conversations deprives them of their autonomy
by only including hearing people, deaf people become the minority
this is bad for deaf communities because majority groups always have say and they can impose culture
deaf people transcend borders
deaf people need to be included in the law making process everywhere
legal models should reflect populations so that we can celebrate differences and diversity
lawmakers need to consider deaf people as being difference instead of deficient.

IVF
IVF is the fertilization of an egg outside of a human body.
PGD also exits under this umbrella. PGD is used to determine serious genetic defects before the baby is born.
these genetic defects include Tay-Sachs disease and cancer
Deaf scholars, leaders and advocates stated that this could be potentially harmful to deaf communities.
Eugenics can be harmful to many communities.
if people utilize eugenics, diversity will cease to exist as we know it.
people have tried to eradicate deafness through eugenics.
deafness is seen as a deformity or as a disability.
in the future, practices rooted in eugenics could be weaponized to eradicate deaf populations.
