Mesopotamia
Location: The Author wrote that Mesopotamia was between two great rivers, the Tigers and the Euphrates. Today, the area that used to be Mesopotamia is modern-day Iraq. (Steele 6)
Architecture On page 24 it said that they built Ziggurats, which are large buildings made out of brick. Ziggurats were big temples used for worshiping. (Steele 24)
Writing The author wrote on page 12 he said that The Sumerians wrote the first written language. Over the years it has gotten more complex and easier to read. (Steele12)
Art On page 26 it said that there is more than a civilization then cities, government, and massive mountains, the ancient Mesopotamia's were great lovers of poetry, art and music. Also on page 26 it said that Public art was one a grand scale. Steele 26
Government The author wrote that City-State rules were honored with various titles. The author also said that the regions of each dynasty were recorded on clay tablets known as king lists. Steele 10
Religion: In the text it said that the people in Mesopotamia the sumerians worshiped many gods. Each of the cities in Mesopotamia had their own god. (Steele 14)
Ancient Egypt
Architecture In the text said that the first pyramids that europeans built was in c. 2650. Another thing the text says is that the first pyramid rose to 6 stages tall. (Hart 20)
Art The author wrote on page 56 that the Egyptians jewelry had gold everywhere. Also The gold could be beaten up into shapes. (Hart 56)
Location One page 8 the author states that the deserts covers more than 90 percent of Egypt. Also it says that the Egyptians lived on the banks of the Nile River.(Hart 8)
Writing On page 34 the author states that Scribes had to be experts in writing Hieroglyphs because there were over 700n different signs. Also Hieroglyphs were used to state monuments, temples, tombs and religious papyrus.

Religion The text said that Egyptians worshiped many gods and goddesses and were polytheistic. The gods has goddesses were often represented by animals. (Hart 24)
Government The author wrote on page 12 that people would go to the king and kiss the ground to show their respect. Another thing that the page states is that some kings got great offices because of their power. (Hart 12)
Ancient China
Architecture/Inventions
: On Page 22 the author wrote that the people of China wanted to improve the development of science and technology. In the past China made many helpful inventions including paper and gunpowder. With out China making all these inventions the world would be a different place.(Cotterell 22)
Location
: On page 34, it stated that most people lived in the countryside of China. The hard work people put made the population get bigger and formed the Chinese empire. Most of the peasants of China lived in family owned farm lands. (Cotterell 34)
Commerce/Trade
: The author stated on page 58 that the Silk Road ran from northern China to across Asia. This helped people go place to place without there being any danger. Also this helped so many countries get new and better items for their people.(Cotterell 58)
Religion
: The author stated that in China's history that there was three ways Confucius, Daoism, and Buddhism. Confucius is one of the first people in China to share his beliefs. Buddhism came to China in the 1st century from India. (Cotterell 26)
Art
: On page 56, it stated that China has always been known for there expensive and exquisite art pieces. In the past people in China used to make Terracotta Warriors of people that died in the past. They also used raw material to make art.(Cotterell 56)
Government
: The author stated that in 221 b.c. the first ever chinese empire the Qin dynasty was formed. They built many statues to show their belief of their soldiers and leader. They also did what the leader wanted them to. (Cotterell 16)
Writing
:On page 11, it said an ox bone or tortoiseshell was scorched over fire unit it cracked. The Shang kings used the oracle bones to get advice from their ancestral spirits. The answers to their questions were shown on the bones with the various cracks.(Cotterell 11)
Indus Valley
Location:
In the article the it states that the in this nation settled by the Indus River. They did this so that they could get a endless supply of water to live and grow crops. The says that "The Indus Valley region was a region rich in fertile soil".

: In the text it states that the people in the Indus Valley had over 400 symbols that they could use. Most of these symbols were usually on pots and seals. The one problem with this writing system is that it lacks insight of many details.

: In the text the author wrote "The people with the Indus Valley created well-planned cities". The author also wrote that the people in the city of the time were extremely advanced for the time. The people in the city were also planned the town very neatly with nice straight roads and large buildings.

: In the text it says that India was divided into different social groups called the Caste System. There were 5 different social classes. People were split up in these social classes by their wealth and occupation.

:In the article, the author states that the religion practiced was called Brahmanism and was later developed into Hinduism. They believed in reincarnation and that you couldn't change what caste you are. A caste is a "Social group in which people are born and cannot change"
