Ancient China
Art: The author wrote that China has always been known for its exquisite arts and crafts. These kind of things from Ancient China were mainly exported to other countries. Some emperors even had factories to professionally make these goods.
Location: I know because Ancient China is located on the Southeastern corner of Asia. The history of Ancient China can be traced back 4000 years each ruled by dynasties. The dynasties starting with the Xia and ending with the Qing.
Writing: On page 11, it said an ox bone or tortoise shell was scorched over a fire until it cracked. The shang kings used the oracle bones to get advice from their ancestral spirits. The answers to their questions were shown on the bones with the various cracks. (Cotterell)
Technology: The graphic showed that throughout history many of China's emperors have encouraged science technology. Many of their inventions were traded along the Silk Road, leading to the spreading of these creations. Many of these inventions are modern things that we still use to this day such as clockwork, kites, and umbrellas. (Cotterell)
Government: An example is that the Qin soldiers defeated their enemies and united other states and elected one leader to rule them all. Emperors ruled for thousands of years until Sun Yat-Sen overthrew the Emperor and started a republic. Unfortunately, the republic was eventually defeated by the communist party led by Mao Zedong.
Religion: The author wrote that many people in the Zhou Dynasty followed the teachings of Confucius. He believed in being kind and had all sorts of complex ideas about life and being kind to everyone you meet. Even to this day people still follow his teachings. (Cotterell)
Trade: In the text it said that the people of the Mongol or Yuan dynasty flourished because of the vast Silk Road, which stretched from Northern China to Asia. The road was the center of all trading for the people as anyone could travel and trade safely on it. Many items such as Silk, teas, and porcelain were traded along the Silk Road. (Cotterell)
Ancient egypt
Writing: The author wrote that the Egyptians used an ancient form of writing called Hieroglyphics. Hieroglyphics was a very complicated form of writing. (Hart)
Location: On page 8 it said that the Egyptians lived on the banks of the Nile River. The Nile was great for farming because of its rich dark silt. (Hart)
Religion: In the text it said that the Egyptians were Polytheistic, meaning they believed in many gods or goddesses. They worshipped gods such as Thoth or Khonsu. (Hart)
Government: I know because of the book that Ancient Egypt, like Mesopotamia, was ruled by a Theocracy under a Pharaoh. Well known pharaoh's include King Tut and Ramses the Great. (Hart)
Architecture: The graphic showed that the Egyptians made many temples to worship their many gods. They also built massive Pyramids to bury their Pharaohs in. (Hart)
Art: An example is that the Egyptians art was carved into stones or walls. They also crafted lots of pottery. (Hart)
Mesopotamia
Art: An example is that even though the Assyrians were ruthless warriors they were also scholars and lovers of art. Their art consisted of statues and jewelry of their gods. (Steele)
Religion: In the text it said that the sumerians worshipped many gods and goddesses. This means that their religion was Polytheism, the belief in many gods or goddesses. (Steele)
Location: On page 6, it said that the people of Mesopotamia arose between the Tigris and Euphrates Rivers. The land was surrounded by the Fertile Crescent, which was excellent for farming. (Steele)
Government: I know because of the book that the Assyrians were run by an Empire. The empire expanded by more great kings but was eventually brought down. (Steele)
Architecture: The graphic showed that the Ziggurat is a massive terraced platform made of brick. It was built for the Mesopotamians to worship their many gods. (Steele)
Indus Valley
Location: an example is that about 5,000 years ago a civilization started living along the Indus River because of its rich land and fertile soil. Over time, more colonies started to pop up on the River. The valley of the Indus River covers most of Pakistan.

Writing: The graphic showed that most of the people's ancient writing was found on things like seals and ceramic pots. As of now, the writing that the Indus Valley people used is indecipherable so we know little about their government and politics. Some scientists still wonder if it is actually a proper writing system.

Architecture/Technology: In the text it said that the Indus Valley cities were very well planned out and advanced especially with hygiene. There was safe water in wells, and many homes had facilities in which water was disposed of. Strong walls were built to protect citizens from flooding and attackers.

Government: The author wrote that the people of Indus Valley lived by a caste system. The five levels were thought to be Brahmana, Kshatriya, Vaishya, Sudra, and the lowest members, the untouchables. The name for all the classes was Varnas.

Religion: In the text it said that the religious writings of the Indus valley people were called Vedas. their religion is known as Brahmanism was polytheistic and led to the development of Hinduism. Both religions share many things such as rituals.
