Ancient Egypt
Art - On page 54 it says that the queen had a statue of herself. This shows that they had royalty becaus ethey had a statue of themselves. On page 56, it says that they had a lot of fine jewelry, which is a form of art. (Hart)
Location - On page 8 the text says "The Egyptians lived on the banks of the Nile River or beside canals extending from it." Also on page 8, it says " The ancient Egyptians lived on a strip of land on either side of the nile" (Hart) 
Archeticture - On page 20 It says "It rose in six stages and is called the Step Pyramid." Also on page 20, It says "The idea of this pyramid was to recreate the mound that had emerged out of the watery ground at the beginning of time" (Hart)
Government - On page 24, it says "THE EGYPTIANS worshipped hundreds of gods and goddesses" Also on page 24, it says "Each of the 42 different administrative districts (or "nomes") had its own god. (Hart)
Writing- On page 34, It says "SCRIBES HAD TO BE EXPERTS in writing hieroglyphs" This shows me that they used hieroglphics to write. Also on page 34, it says "For business contracts, letters, and stories, scribes used a different form of writing (script), called hieratic, which was a fast-written version of hieroglyphs, always running from right to left." (Hart)
Ancient China
Writing - The author wrote that a tortoise shell was burned and cracked to answer important questions from the people to their ancestors. They believed that the answers were written on the bones after the fire. Usually only the shang kings used oracle bones to connect with ancestral spirits. (Cottrell 11)
Government - The Chinese empire was fromed in 221 B.C.. The Qin (Pronounced Chin) soldiers defeated their enemies and brought together the "warring states" under the leader named Zheng. The first emporer had his tomb guarded by thousands of uniquely different life sized terracotta statues of soldiers. (Cottrel 16)
Architecture/technology - In the text, it says that China has invented many of the items we use today. They have invented paper, gunpowder, boats with a magnetic compass, and paper money. Many of these have traveled on the silk road to Europe. (Cottrell 22)
Agriculture - On page 34, it says that teh hardworking people made the foundation of thr Chinese empire. It also said that living as a peasant is a hard life. On page 35, it said that thir hair was worn as a topknot, a traditional hairstyle. (Cottrel 34, 35)
Art - The Chinese people believed that if you have well made art, that you are a wealthy person. They also believed that someting ritual has to be made of bronze. They applied gold leaf to bronze items for a bright finish. (Cottrell 56)
Trade/Commerce - The author wrote that the Mongol emporers controlled the entirety of the silk road. Chinese merchants became wealthy because they could export luxury goods like silk, teas, spices, lacquerware, and porcelain. International trading was good because Caravans could travel without being hurt or attacked. (Cottrel 58)
Location on page 34, it says that most of the people lived in the country and worked as a peasant in the fields. It says that they also lived on carfully tended plots that are family owned. The terrain in which they live is a mountaneous terrain. (Cottrel 34, 35)
Religion - The text says that there are "three ways" of the religions Buddhism, Confucianism, and Daoism. China hasd always been tolerant of all religions, though there were a few disagreements over some religions. Buddhism came to China from India. *Cottrel 26)

Government - In the article, the author shows that there are 5 parts of the caste. The 5 parts are Bhramin, Kshatryia Vaishya, and Sudra. There is one part out of the caste called the Untouchables, because the people on the caste thought they were like dogs with diseases, and if they touched or looked at them, they will get the sickness (https://sites.google.com/mccsc.k12.in.us/history-of-south-asia/home/1500-bc-aryans).
