Tertiary Category
The clinical laboratories are licensed to perform tests that are being conducted by secondary category laboratory.
Secondary Category
The clinical laboratories are licensed to performed tests that are being conducted by the primary category laboratory along with clinical chemistry tests.
National Reference Laboratory
It is a government hospital designated by the DOH to conduct special diagnostic functions and services for certain diseases.
Primary Category
The clinical laboratories are licensed to perform basic and routine laboratory testing.
ACCORDING TO OWNERSHIP
Privately-owned
Laboratories are owned by an individual corporation and organization. Examples are Makati Medical Center and St. Luke's Medical Center.
Government-owned
Laboratories are owned by the national local government units. Examples are Ospital ng Maynila Medical Center, San Lazaro hospital and Bulacan Medical Center.
