Transistors, Terminals, Collector & emitter are negative, 2.Base is…
Transistors
CONSTRUCTION
1.It has 3 semiconductor layers
2.It has two p-n junctions named emitter base junction & collector base junction
-
-
N-P-N TRANSISTOR
P-N-P TRANSISTOR
Amplifier
-
- It amplifies the small input current(IB) into large output current(IC)
2.Output voltage of amplifier is 180 degree out of phase as compared to input voltage
Switch
-
- Transistor is ON if the base has potential of 0.7Volts,
thus IC flows & hence resistance is small
- When transistor is off the resistance
is infinite IC not flows
-
-
OPERATION
1.Both the input & output loops are grounded at a point
- IB current flows from VBB and IC current flows from VCC
- Both currents combine & form IE
- IB current is the smallest & IE is greatest
-
-
Terminals
-
-
Collector
1.Moderately doped
- Has the largest area
- Collector & emitter are negative
-
-
-
-
-
- Collector & emitter are positive
-
- One N-type semiconductor is sandwiched between two P-type semiconductors
- If base is at lower voltage than emitter current flows from emitter to collector
