Find the height on a map
Contour lines: a line that joins places on the map that have the same height. The contour interval is the height between the contours. This can be either 5 or 10 meters.
lack of contour lines --> flat land // close lines--> very steep // lines further apart --->gently sloping

Cross section: drawing that shows what the insade of something looks like after a cut has been made trought it. Allows you to see areas of flat/steep/gentle slopes and locate rivers and towns etc. It is usually drawn along the easings or northings on the map between two places
Isoline maps: a mao with continuous lines joining points of the same value (height, temperature, rainfall, barometric pressure...)
Choropleth map: a thematic map in which areas are shaded or patterned in proportion to the measurements of the statistical variable which is being displayed on the map
