Any bone in the body can be affected. The pelvis, femur, and skull are the most usually impacted bones. The tibia, vertebrae, clavicle, and humerus are some of the less usually affected bones.
At the affected locations, bone turnover is accelerated. Pagetic lesions are highly vascularized and metabolically active. Osteoclasts that are very active are frequently big and include a lot of nuclei. Hyperactive osteoblastic healing results in coarsely woven, thicker lamellae and trabeculae. Despite bone growth and areas of bone sclerosis, this aberrant structure damages the bone.
