The country that consumes the most bread is Turkey, they say that a meal is not complete without bread. Servings of their bread are also bigger equating to around 3-4 regular pieces.
Many countrys around the world eat bread as a staple food.
Alot of them have designed a type bread that suits the type of food they eat. Such as tortillas in Mexico, Naan in India and Baguette in France

In New Zealand all types of bread are eaten, a wide variety of the types are all eaten. A staple food in New Zealand, sausage sizzles includes white bread.

History
The bread was first made around 800 B.C in the Middle East by Egyptians.They would crush up grains using a quern and would bake into a flat type loaf, such as a tortilla/naan.
As time went on different places created and developed.In 450 B.C Romans created water milling and made what we would consider white bread. This cycle contunued through history with Persians creating a windmilling system in 600 B.C and Mexicans creating a corn tortilla in 100 B.C
