I&S Summative Assessment 1
Ideology
The iron curtain is an ideological barrier erected by the Soviet Union after World War II to seal off itself and its dependent eastern and central European allies from open contact with the West and other noncommunist areas
The domino theory was a Cold War policy that suggested a communist government in one nation would quickly lead to communist takeovers in neighboring states, each falling like a perfectly aligned row of dominos
The USA think their ideology is the best,
therefore resulting a conflict between the
USA and USSR. So USA started to spread
capitalism so that not all countries are
"brainwashed" by communism
The USSR and USSR are incompatible with each other because they have different ideologies. USA believe in exceptionalism and capitalism and USSR believe in Marxism-Leninism and communism
The intense rivalry between the two superpowers raised concerns in the United States that Communists and leftist sympathizers inside America might actively work as Soviet spies and pose a threat to U.S. security.
On March 21, 1947, President Harry S. Truman (1884-1972) issued Executive Order 9835, also known as the Loyalty Order, which mandated that all federal employees be analyzed to determine whether they were sufficiently loyal to the government.

The United States refused to allow this and, after thirteen tense days and many secret negotiations, the Soviet Union agreed to remove the missiles.
