Defination
Is a chronic non inflammatory degenerative joint disease in which there is progressive loss of articular cartilage and capsular fibrosis
Pathophysiology
Detoriation of the articular cartilage occurs
Friction increases
Bone remodeling occurs
Pain and joint stiffness occurs

Pain evidenced by verbal complaints of pain and restlessness
Nursing intervention
Asses the patients pain description
Encourage enough rest
Give anti-inflammatory medication and analgesics as prescribed

Decreased level of pain
Evaluation
Patient will report feeling comfortable and feeling no pain
