USA News on Support After George Floyd's Death; This news article identifies the trends in support for civil rights movements and allyship. they identify, through a case study at a book store and statistics) that support from allies for the Black Lives Matter Movement roared and energized right after George Floyd's death but it is beginning to lessen as time goes on. They identify factors that could explain this decrease in participation, like frustration and the rate of change being low, but the truth is that there are would-be allies. Allies are critical in the movement and progress of civil rights movement, but from history it is clear that many allies lack the consistency to make real change. This is very important as allies not only to be critical consumers but to identify whether we are practicing the support of cultures or if we are mocking them. The article also details the impact of social media on cultural appropriation and appreciation arguing that social media has had both negative and positive impacts. It elevates it as an issue but viewers' ignorance contributes also to the promotion of cultural appropriation. Therefore it is critical that as allies we identify our own actions and become critical consumers of the actions of others.
