Nursing interventions
Provide support of joints in fracture site when moung or turning
Place patient on the orthopedic bed
Maintain limb rest as indicated
Observe and evaluate splinted extremity for resolving of edema
Put patient in a correct position to maintain appropriate pull on long axis of the bone
Administer alendronate as indicated
Assess the intergrity of the external fixtion device
Types of fracture
Incomplete fracture
Involves only a portion of cross sectin f bones
Complete fracture
Involves entire crss section of the bine
Closed fracture
Does not extebd through the skin
Pathological fracture
Fracture occurs in deseased bone
Nursing diagnoses
Swelling related to the inflammatory response to the injured tissues caused by trauma and infections
pain
Altered comfort and activity intolerance related to fracture
Infection
Related to to injury and immobility
Haemorrage
Fluid volume deficit due to bleeding

No infection evident
Normal vital signs
No swelling
Wound clean and dry
Clinical manifestations
Swelling and tenderness
Brusing, discolored skin around affected area

Definition
Is a break in continiuty of bone caused by applied force during trauma, disease and prolonged pressure on the bone

A break in the continuity of a bone which result in the periosteum being tripped off from bones and blood vses aplying bone being served. Have bleeding which result from damage in soft tissues and blood
