ISOMERISM - Coggle Diagram
ISOMERISM
STRUCTURAL ISOMERISM
Isomerism that is due to difference in arrangement of atoms within a molecule, without any reference to space.
CHAIN ISOMERISM
Isomers that differ in the arrangement of carbon chain, that maybe branched or straight.
POSITION ISOMERISM
Same carbon skeleton but differ from each other in the location of the functional groups on or in the carbon chain.
FUNCTIONAL ISOMERISM
Isomerism in which the compounds have same molecular formula but have different functional groups
METAMERISM
Isomerism due to unequal distribution of carbon atoms on either side of the functional group

STEREO ISOMERISM Stereoisomerism have the same structural formulas but differ in arrangement of atoms in space.
GEOMETRICAL ISOMERISM It arises when atoms or groups are arranged differently in space due to restricted rotation of bonds.
