Grandma; my grandma or Lola;
has helped me have respect for all grandparents in the world. My Lola has been through everything with me and my cousins. From all the fun times to the huge fights that we three would have. She has shown me what it means to stand up and fix a situation, which in our everyday life we need to learn how to fix situations that have been messed up in our world.
My mom and dad (Patricia & Jimmy);
My parents have influenced my morals because they have given me respect for both of their works. My mom provides the money, she is a nurse and it opens my eyes just to how much the medical field does, especially since covid-19 has struck the world. My dad doesn’t work anymore since he quit taking care of me when I was little, he was a retired police officer and that field takes a lot of my respect. Most importantly I have respect for parents or people that stay home to take care of someone or something for it is so meaningful and sometimes stressful. I am so grateful to be shown the work and effort they put into what they do.
My Cousins;
My cousins from my mom’s side of the family are very close to each other and we always look out for each other. However, my cousins on my dad’s side of the family aren’t the biggest examples for me. They have gotten into drugs, getting pregnant at a really early age, and other things that aren’t good examples for me to learn off of. This has given me so much more appreciation for my close cousins cause I know that they will always show me the right thing especially since we are around the same age. These situations between my cousins from both sides of my family have shown me just how much influence is involved in our lives. My cousins on my dad’s side didn’t go down the best path, and my mom’s side is there to keep me on the right track.
Georgia (My Second Home); I was born in Georgia and slowly made my way to California which is my home now. However, Georgia is forever my second home, with my family being there and several memories being made. It has shown me what a difference of life is between California city life and Georgia country life. It shows just how different people’s lives can be in which I have gained so much respect for the slowed down and one day at a time life. Georgia will always be a home to me and my family.
My Bestfriends;
My best friends have helped me become the best version of myself. They help keep me in check and on the right path when my parents aren’t around. They have given me the morals to have respect for each other and to bring them up. If my best friends weren’t there for me I would for sure not be on the right path and mindset.
Fremont CA;
Living in Fremont or even California, in general, has helped me see the many positives in our social life and way of living when it comes to the wide variety of people and the different cultures presented. Then there are also negatives like our corrupted social systems and the several social issues going on that make me see just how much California needs to be fixed as a state and home to many.
Being half white and Filipino; My dad’s side of the family is white, what ethnicity I don’t know. My mom’s side of the family is Filipino. Then that creates me, I am half Filipino and half white. Yes this may seem like a cool thing, which it is, but sometimes it could be misinterpreted and I have had people say that I am not Asain or white enough. This has shown me and given me the morals of having respect for other people’s ethnicity since I can relate to being half white and Filipino. People in the world today are always treated differently based on their race and I think that we need to change that and rather focus on things that people like to do.
Social Media;
Social Media does take up a lot of time in my life when I could be doing something different, however, it has taught me so many lessons and I have recently come to realize just how much information I can get about different things going on around me and all the way across the world. Social Media can be a way of distraction, but if you use it the way for benefiting it could really change the way you see the world and show more awareness to these situations going on in the world.
Mr. Gonzales’ Spanish Class;
Mr. Gonzales, yes he gives out a lot of homework, but it helps in the long run. However, that’s not what I remember him by. He has given me so many life lessons not only for learning Spanish, but rather he has given all of us advice for our lives that are closer than we think. He has given me respect for different cultures especially those that have come to America looking for a better life. It opened my eyes to just how much we should be treating each other better and being open to learning more.
Coach Jerico (vb coach);
Coach Jerico has helped me understand so much. Not only as an athlete but as a person. When it came to sports he gave me respect for everyone that plays sports and the immense amount of effort you put into it. As well as respect for my teammates. On the other hand, as a Social Justice teacher, he has given me the opportunity to see different perspectives of lives which has opened my eyes to several social issues.
