  - - - sand and pebbles thrown against the cliff – break off other rocks
    - - wearing away of rocks already in the sea – knock against each other and get worn down
    - - chemical reaction between rock, salt and water – limestone and chalk cliffs
    - - pressure of water being thrown against the cliff – air in cracks compressed by power of water – puts pressure on surrounding rock -> erosion
