HYPERKINETIC
basal ganglia damage
uncontrollable & involuntary movements
associated w/many disorders but often Huntington's Disease
ATAXIC
cerebellum damage
overall discoordination
often thought of as drunk/slurred/blurred
UNILATERAL UMN
results in subtle dysarthria & spasticity from damage to cortex (unilateral)
not as severe as spastic dysarthria
can be differential diagnosed by severity
SPASTIC
bilateral UMN damage
strained, strangled vocal quality
FLACCID
severe weakness
LMN
MIXED
any of the dysarthria together except spastic + unilateral UMN
