WHERE?
Egypt is in Africa. The River Nile is in Egypt.
In the north there is the vast Mediterranean Sea.
On both sides of the River Nile there is only desert.

WHEN? Ancient Egypt developed between 4,000 B.C and 31 B.V.

WHO?
Ancient Egyptians sail along the Nile in boats of papyrus leaves and they catch fish in the river.
Ancient Egyptians build their houses and villages along the River Nile.
The black soil near the river is very rich and fertile and Egyptians can grow cereals and vegetables.

WHY?
Egypt is so famous because of the beauty of the art, the skill of the craftsmen, the intricacies of the language, the certainties of the priests - or even a vague, indefinable feeling that the Egyptians came as close as is humanly possible to living a near-perfect life.

WHAT?
Giza is a city famous for its three great pyramids.
The pyramids are the stone tombs of Egypt’s pharaohs.
A pyramid is a big tomb with a lot of objects and jewels .
Inside a pyramid there is also the mummy of the pharaoh.
A mummy is a dead, artificially preserved body.
Actually, Ancient Egyptians believe in a second life after death.
The walls of pyramids are decorated with symbols called ‘hieroglyphics’.
They are the old Egyptian alphabet symbols.
‘Pharaoh’ is the name of the king of Egypt, he is half-man and half-god.
In Giza there is the famous Sphinx with a human face and a lion’s body.
