Excess levels of catecholamines (dopamine, epinephrine, norepinephrine) plus T3 and T4.

Causes

Trauma, can be emotional or physical.

Signs and Symptoms

CNS effects (agitation, irritability, Schizoid-personality).

Treatment
-
Cooling measures (apply ice packs/cool blankets to areas with large blood vessels, groin, armpits, etc).
Replenish fluids, electrolytes, glucose if necessary.
Administer Thionamides
These are anti-thyroid medications, these stop production of thyroid hormones.

Serum labs
-
Thyroid panel - TSH, T3, T4
Glucose check
Usually hyperglycemia, the release and excessive uptake of catecholamines inhibits insulin release.

Chest X-ray, head CT, EKG, blood culture
