DEFINITION
Abnormal uterine bleeding which reflects disruption in the endometrial lining.

Hormonal imbalances
fibroids
Uterine adenomyosis

Imbalance in sex hormone.

SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS
Heavy menstrual bleeding.
Pelvic pain.
clotting during bleeding.
Bleeding after sex.
Spotting.
More than 7 days menstruating
Bloating.
Irregular period.
COMPLICATIONS
Infertility
Endometrial cancer
Anemia
NURSING INTERVENTIONS
Encourage to wait till menstruation it finish then do sex
Encourage to do less aggressive sexual intercourse
Do tap tap sponging at the abdomen with hot water to reduce pains
Encourage deep breathing to elevate stress
Restricts lactose(yoghurt)and gas containing (beans) food to prevent bloating
Provide enough sleep to elevate fatigue
Discourage carbonates beverages (soft drinks)intake to reduce boating
Give ovulation stimulating drug to stop prolonged menstrual bleeding
monitor blood pressure
Give tranexamic drug to control heavy uterine bleeding.
Insert IUD so it progestin will thin uterine lining thus reducing bleeding
Administer gonadotropin releasing hormone to shrink fibroids
pathophysiology
Ovulation failed to occur
Nil production of progesterone.
Normal hypothalamic pituitary ovarian axis disturbance
Endometrium is being left unstabilized
Proliferative endometrium persist
Anovulatory dysfunctional uterine bleeding results.
