Ovarian tumor
Definition
Abnormal growths on the ovaries, the female reproductive organs that produce eggs. Ovarian tumors can be cancerous (benign) or cancerous.

Older age
Human papillomavirus
Inherited gene mutation
Hormone therapy
Signs and symptoms
Stomach or pelvic pain
Constipation
Increased belly size
Difficulty urinating or frequent urination
Stomach bloating
Pathophysiology
Exposed to the peritoneal cavity
Cancer cells proliferate inward, when thin cyst wall rupture the cancer cells spread into peritoneal cavity
Nursing intervention
Establish realistic activity goals with the patient
Plan care to allow individually adequate rest periods
Assess the need for individual to offer appropriate assistance
Instruct in stress management skills of visualization and relaxation
Treatment

Radiation therapy
Surgery
Administere analgesics as prescribed
