it failed because the Turks were aware of the coming offence, it took the Allies a long to prepare and they used this time to strengthen, the Turkish army was well trained, the land campaign was badly planned, the British didn't know how many Turkish troops were in the area, didn't know the area, their maps were inaccurate, didn't take enough troops and the ones they took were inexperienced and they landed wrongly, had poor communication with leader, severe weather conditions and shortage of food weakened the army.
