management
Sitz bath is usually ordered with 1:30 dilution of savlon
Application of low dosage of steroid ointment may be used when prescribed
Antifungal, hydrocortisone and oestrogen creams may relieve symptoms
health education
Discourage the use of products that could be irritating like vaginal sprays, topical creams, laundry detergents, sanitary napkins, spermicides, douches etc.
Nurse should teach the patient about the good personal hygiene
An emphasis on front-backward wiping should be stressed to avoid faeces coming to the vulvar
Patient should be advised to wear cotton absorbent underwear and change it daily or anytime necessary
