Causes
Rapid fall in Blood Pressure when changing position
Loss of consciousness
How to avoid?
Slowly position the patient from supine to sitting.
Symptoms:
• Dimming of vision
• Decreased hearing
• Lightheadedness
Potential Risks:
Antihypertensive Medication
and
Patients with normally low BP
Treatment
Position: Supine
Circulation: Monitor Pulse
Airway/Breathing: Maintain Open Airway
Document/Definitive Diagnosis: Supplemental Oxygen and Call EMS
Monitor vital signs every 5 minutes. Call EMS if no improvement.
