What a speech needs
-
Confidence
Confidence if huge when it comes to public speaking. Being confident in your speech will allow you to be seen as an expert on your topic. Confidence makes you credible, knowledgeable and believable. You need to keep the confidence throughout the speech. If you can be yourself throughout the speech then your audience will be engaged and can somehow relate.
Good Structure (Beginning, middle and end)
The audience often will react best when you tell them in the beginning what you're planning to share. You can then offer some memorable times, its best not to dive right into the topic.
Abillity to tell a story
A presentation is more effective and engaging when it doesn't seem like a presentation. Knowing how to present your story to the audience is very important. Rather than just sharing facts, if you can try to incorporate a story that you've experienced in relation to the topic. If you can add your story then see if you can add some elses. Stories help people retain more information because they are more engaged in your presentation.
Passion
I don't think an audience would want to listen if you don't seem passionate about your topic. Let people know why you are doing what you're doing and why you want to get your message across. If an Audience can see you're passion they will be more interested in hearing what you have to say.
Audience awareness
Make sure before you present you know the people your presenting to. By doing this you'll be able to present to them in the best way you know you can.
