Curriculum
Standards- based curriculum

Taught Curriculum
the daily events that happen in school
it includes
lessons
activities
peer social gatherings.
includes techniques such as
lectures
discussions
style of instruction
group arrangements
time allocated for instruction
teachers’ personal beliefs and attitudes related to curriculum
Learned Curriculum
Information students learn from the class room
a school’s plan of instruction: how, when, and what students will be taught, what content will be covered, and what students ought to have learned after they have completed a specific course or grade.
Curriculum Overload
when the range of content is too broad and not enough instructing time
Curriculum omission: when a decision is made to not have a piece of info given
Content Standards
a clear outline of the core content knowledge and consists of what students should understand, and be able to do in(fill in your program / pathway here) throughout the course of their education.
Benchmarks
more specific than content standards and are frequently linked to grade levels. They can be used as instructional units or blocks of instruction that are taught during a grading period or semester to help measure students’ progress toward meeting a standard.
Performance Standards
the level of mastery of the content the student is expected to attain and are targeted by specific grade level. Performance standards are not taught in isolation but rather are dependent on previously learned skills. Teachers must be aware of the specific content standards in order to develop instructional programs congruent with the performance standards.
