Chorrera Culture
The Chorrera culture would have consisted of rather small groups of between 100 and 200 individuals, who would have been related to each other by kinship and reciprocity.
The amount of products they cultivated were the muse for the creation of pottery, rituals bottles, plates, whistles, flutes, stamps, and hollow figures.
They had a healer who had herbal knowledge and also consumed coca and hallucinogenic plants that allowed them to have contact with the afterlife.
Between the years 950 and 350 B.C., people from Chorrera occupied the Coast of Ecuador.
Like all ancient cultures, it is believed that they worshipped the elements of nature such as animals, stars and natural phenomena.

The trademark Valdivia piece is the "Venus" of Valdivia: feminine ceramic figures. The "Venus" of Valdivia likely represented actual people, as each figurine is individual and unique, as expressed in the hairstyles.

It is possible that they had leaders and individuals who were experts in relating to the spirit world.
