Under Wood’s light, the infected hair appears fluorescent, which aids in diagnosing tinea capitis.

Causes
Occurs from the overgrowth of fungi in, under, or on the nail
They feed off of keratin, a protein
Fungi thrive in warm, moist environments

Clinical manifestation
Debris accumulates under the edge of the nail, and nail plate separates.

Nails become thickened, friable and lusterless
