Tragic Hero
The purpose is to evoke sad emotions
The term hero is derived from a Greek word that means a person who faces adversity
Aristotle defines a tragic hero as “a person who must evoke a sense of pity and fear in the audience. He is considered a man of misfortune that comes to him through error of judgment"
Sometimes the hero faces some downfalls as well.
Characteristics of a tragic hero: Hamartia, Hubris, Peripeteia, Anagnorisis, Nemisis and Catharis
An example of tragic hero is Romeo from Romeo and Juliet
Another example is Davy Jones from Pirates of the Caribbean
War and Economy
There are myths that saids that wars are somehow good for the economy.
Example: The world war II came directly after the Great Depression and seemed to cure it.
When the unemployment rate is down, more people are spending again and people who had jobs before will be less worried about losing their jobs .
A spiral of positive economic activity is created by the government preparing for war.
Negative effects: it increases taxes, decrease spending in other areas, increasing the debts
There hasn't been a net gain in economic activity. In fact, there has been a decline in the economy
Ethics in Buisness
Ethics concern an individual’s moral judgements about right and wrong
Ethical behaviour and corporate social responsibility can bring significant benefits to a business.
For example, it attracts customers to the firm’s products, which means boosting sales and profits
It refers to implementing appropriate business policies and practices with regard to arguably controversial subjects
When working for a company with strong business ethics, employees are comfortable in the knowledge
Reputation is one of a company’s most important assets, and one of the most difficult to rebuild
. Businesses can increase sales or increase their reputation.
Businesses not following any kind of ethical code leads to wider consequences.
