CAUSES
COVID-19 virus that interferes with respiratory system, easily passed
No proper data or method to manage the situation and prevent further infections
Slow research and long time for vaccinations to come out
Not taken seriously enough by people and governments
Most people cannot afford proper treatment, tests and equipment to prevent infection and many don't have enough knowledge
Low grade protective wear and masks
Low supply of medical equipment, medicines and lack of supplies and experienced doctors
GLOBAL
Students unable to attend school & working people unable to attend offices and workplace
forced to depend on savings
High demand for doctors and medical equipent, medicine
Scarcity of resources -> higher death rates
World trade affects -> unable to trade as much as before due to high risk of infection and spread
Lack of certain resources in some countries
Boosting use of online platforms globally like MS Teams, zoom, etc.
Most students out of schools and universities unemployed, difficult to get jobs during the pandemic -> unable to support themselves alone
Older people more susceptible to virus due to pre-existing health conditions and weakness, unable to support themselves alone in isolation
Propagates incorrect stereotypes about older people's weakness, stigma
Rely on others for support, unable to take care alone despite social distancing measures
People with disabilities
Recommended COVID-19 precautions and measures involving physical movement like cleaning surfaces and managing personal hygiene -> difficult for many who live alone, especially for those with physical disabilities & many unable to take such measures like social distancing due to requiring constant support and help from others
Stigma and affordibility and accessibility issues make it hard to recieve appropriate treatment
Social anxiety & loneliness due to not meeting others for so long
Refugees and migrants stuck in the region, priorities of governments shift from refugee camps.
Lowering air pollution, higher water/land pollution due to disposable masks & medical necessities
NATIONAL
Scarcity of food and water, medicine, doctors and medical treatment, oxygen
Unable to go to school
Students in families in poor financial conditions unable to attend school online
Girl child pulled out of education
Many students relying on online platforms for online school
Boosting businesses of online learning platforms and social media
Unable to attend physical school, missing out on physical activities like PE, arts, theatre, etc
Low fitness level, lethargy and unable to explore skills -> lower immunity
Stuck at home, allowing students to explore other activities possible at home
Lowering professionalism in people due to working and studying in home, unable to adjust back into normality
Students going abroad for university education unable to attend physical school
End of school tests and admission examinations postponed, cancelled or replaced by results from mock exams, etc.
Incorrect assessment of student abilities for university -> prevents deserving students to prove themselves and attend schools they want to
HIgher fees for many schools eg: Julliard
Lowering employment rates and loss of jobs, GDP decreases, lowering economy
Stock market plummeting, sudden shifts
LOCAL
Business and shops shut down
House helps left with little work, return back to local villages and families -> spread of virus, lower income, difficult to make ends meet
Pressure on younger generation to take care of others
Financial pressure on resident welfare associations (community RWAs) to fund treatment and testing
Built relationships by caring for one another and helping each other out
