By means of this treaty the independence of Hungary and the creation of the new states of Czechoslovakia (with Bohemia, Moravia and Silesia) and Yugoslavia (with Slovenia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Croatia, Vojvodina and part of Dalmatia) were recognized. The cession of Trentino, South Tyrol, Trieste, Istria, several Dalmatian islands and Friuli to Italy, Galicia to Poland was also established. Hungary would cede Transylvania, part of the Bánato and Bucovina to Romania, something that was specified in the Treaty of Trianon, and Burgenland to Austria.
