Definition
Is defined as bleeding that occurs outside your normal periods in the absence of uterine pathology or medical illness

Signs and symptoms
Bleeding for more than 6 months after menopause
Irregular periods
Vaginal bleeding
Heavy periods
Bleeding between your periods after sex
Pathophysiology
During an ovulatory cycle the corpus luteum does not form resulting in normal cycle secretions of progesterone to not occur
Without progesterone the endometrium proliferate
Eventually outgrowing its blood supply it then sloughed incompletely and bleeds irregularly and sometimes for a long time.

Chronic infertility
Diabetes mellitus
Obesity
Hypertension
Above the age of 40 years
Diagnostic tests
Lab assessment of TSH
Pelvic ultrasound
Physical examination
Testing haemoglobin levels
Nursing care plan
Identify patients perception of threats represented by the situation .
Encourage patients to acknowledge and Express fears
Provide opportunity for discussion of personal feelings or concerns and future expectations
Encourage use of relaxation techniques like deep breaths
