Eating less meat

Why?

It's not sustainable

People should eat less meat

Animals have rights

People need to stop eating so much red meat it's not good for the earth, and animals have the right to live

There are other ways of getting protein and iron

Tofu

Broccoli

Lots of meat isn't good for you

You can get bowel cancer, etc

Elaborating on not sustainable idea

The earth's supply of cows, sheep, pigs, chicken, fish and any other meat won't last forever, and it's slowly running out so if we don't act now and stop eating so much meat, there could be no meat to eat.

Cabbage/kale smoothies

Have you ever looked down at your dinner and wondered what animal was killed just to feed you!?

Elaborate on animal rights

Animals deserve to live just as much as humans. They're loyal companions with brains and beating hearts.

Lots of work from animal to meat (has to go through processors)

The packaging also isn't good for the earth it's just mounds and mounds of plastic, which goes into the dump and rots there forever

Elaborate on lots of meat isn't exactly good for you

In NZ, we have a high rate of bowel cancer and diabetes because of things like meat. Because we mainly produce meat and dairy as a whole 5 million, it's one of our main meals and has resulted in bowel cancer because of over eating it.

There are other ways of getting iron and protein

If we stop eating so much meat, the rates will go down

I'm not asking you to give up red meat entirely just eating less meat in general.

Any leafy greens

red meat and heart disease

Eating no more than 3 red meat meals a week could save your life.

every extra 100g of red meat a person eats a day is a 15% increased chance of getting heart disease and 12% increased chance of getting stroke.

heart disease is NZ's biggest killer

A study way back in 2012 or 2013 showed that an elevated intake of red meat was linked to surge in diabetes https://www.nzherald.co.nz/lifestyle/red-meat-linked-to-diabetes-study/3HMHCRTRNLEPETTFGKZQW3UAWQ/

They compared the meat increased intakers (who were eating more that half of what they were supposed to) to people who had no change in their diet and the red meat was associated with a 48% elevated risk of diabetes

processed meat can release chemicals that can have toxic reactions.
