OVARIAN TUMOURS
DEFINITION
Ovarian cancer is a cancer that forms in or an ovary.lt results in an abnormal cells that have the ability to invade or spread to other parts of the body.
PATHOPHYSIOLOGY
Ovarian cancer is the cancer that forms in or on an ovary.It results in abnormal cells that have the ability to invade or spread to other parts of the body.When this process begins, there may be no or only vague symptoms.
TYPES OF OVARIAN TUMORS
Germ cell tumors, which begin in the egg-producing cells.
These rare ovarian cancers tend to occur in younger women.
Stromal tumors, which begin in the ovarian tissue that
contains hormone-producing cells
Epithelial tumors,which begin in the thin layer of the tissue that covers the outside of the ovaries.About 90 percent of ovarian cancers are epithelial tumors.

MANAGEMENT

Surgery is often the initial treatment of choice for ovarian
cancer, provided patients are medically fit.
