PHYSIOLOGY OF
AMENORRHEA
Menopause starts gradually, its associated with an increase or decrease in menstrual flow.
There are changes in the ovaries, fewer follicles stimulate FSH.
With a fewer follicles responding to FSH, the production of oestrogen and progesterone declines.
Ovarian function decreases together with oestrogen levels, causing sn increase in FSH and LH. Low oestrogen causes a decrease in ovulation.
