Masid-Dana: My World
Root Cause
Depression
In 2019, I was diagnosed by my doctor that I have depression which is called "Hyperarousal", it is a primary symptom of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). It occurs when a person's body goes into high alert as a result of recalling their trauma.
Events leading to the involvement of the issue
A generation gap with the adults around us leads to a lack of mutual understanding, and not being given relatable advice.
Failing to communicate to my parents about my problems
Problems building up and not opening up about them to anyone.
Losing trust in my friends from incidents of betrayal
Growing up and learning that the world is not fair.
Lack of professional help
Seeking help from a therapist is very beneficial, but therapy is expensive and inaccessible in the Philippines. Therapists help you understand yourself and the actions of the people in your life.
I always tried to please my friends, coaches, and mentors and let go of any issues that arose between us, but I didn't notice that I was losing myself in the process and that problems were building up around me.
