Stressed and non-stressed words
A
stressed syllable
is the part of a word that you say with

Alternatively, an

weak pronunciation
is
quieter
and
quicker
.The vowel sound is very short.
The strong pronunciation is used
at the end of a sentence
or when the word
gets special emphasis
. The strong pronunciation has
a long, clear vowel sound
.

There are

Long vowel sounds
are pronounced like the name of the letter and are often indicated by
