Types of Assessment
Assessment of Learning: Is given at the end of a unit or semester. The purpose is to assess learning for grading purposes.

Assessment for Learning: done to improve and ensure learning. This is a formative assessment. It is given while the teacher is in the process of teaching and student learning. Examples: question and answer, exit slips, quizzes.
Assessment as learning: it is called a self assessment. Students evaluate and monitor their own learning and it is self directed. It develops independent learners. Examples: reflections and insights.
Formative: formative assessment occurs before and during learning. It is a type of diagnostic assessment used to monitor student learning and gives you the opportunity to give feedback and adjust instruction for students to achieve their learning goals.
