With the stamp act and all other controversial taxes removed, the only tax left was the infamous tea tax which would later cause The Boston tea party. The Boston tea party was caused by The Sons of Liberty, who dressed up as native Americans and marched to Boston harbor. They then boarded a merchant ship loaded with 10,000$ (or pounds) worth of tea and threw it into the harbor. The British were outraged, and as punishment, they dissolved the general assembly of Massachusetts, revoked their charter, and sent 3,000 troops to occupy the city, meaning that Massachusetts was entirely under British rule, which caused more outrage amongst the colonist.
