FOODS THAT CONTAIN MICROBES
Beer
Bread
Enzymes in yeast ferment sugar forming carbon dioxide and ethanol. The carbon dioxide makes the bread rise, while the ethanol evaporates when the bread is baked. (Nuffield Foundation and the Royal Society of Chemistry, 2016)
Contains yeast, a microbe which feeds on sugar

C6H12O6 → 2 C2H5OH + 2 CO
Glucose→ethanol + carbon dioxide gas
Anaerobic respiration
FERMENTATION REACTION
A respiratory process that occurs in both prokaryotes and eukaryotes in which cells break down the sugar molecules to produce energy without the presence of oxygen. (BiologyOnline Editors, 2021)
The chemical reaction transfers glucose energy to the cell. In fermentation, instead of carbon dioxide and water, lactic acid is produced which can lead to painful muscle cramps. (BiologyOnline Editors, 2021)
Anaerobic respiration takes place in the cytoplasm, the fluid part of the cell. (BiologyOnline Editors, 2021)
These could act as the independent variable by affecting the production/rate of microbes.
Reseaching different foods that contain microbes will be useful as they could be the controlled variables that can be tested.
These methods of growth can be used to measure the changes of the indendent variable, the factor that affects microbe production
Yeast dies at around 40°C to 42°C (Inc., 2021)
